Despite being a beautiful city with scenic bridges…

…The city of Pisa, Italy is known for exactly one thing.

A bell tower with an unintended tilt. And pictures of people pretending to hold it up.

This may seem like a normal, happy picture, but that’s only because our sunglasses are hiding the desperate pleading in our eyes. Please, please, for the love of God, do NOT pretend to hold up the Leaning Tower of Pisa. (This should go without saying… but don’t push it over either.)

The Tower has been tilted since it’s construction in the 1170s. It does not need you to hold it up. It’s doing just fine, thanks. Save the Tower some embarrassment and spare your friends and family from having to pretend that you are even remotely clever for using this same tired pose. Instead, try one of these Leaning Tower of Pisa photo alternatives.

The real key is to become BFFs with the Leaning Tower of Pisa. This will help the poses flow more naturally.

Once you become BFFs, you pretty much can’t help but hug The Leaning Tower of Pisa. It’s kind of awkward and adorbs, and this building really just wants some love, y’all.

After you hug it out, you may want to do other best friend stuff, like give the Tower a piggy back ride. This is totally normal. Embrace the friendship.

Or maybe put yourself in the Tower’s shoes and see how it feels to be tilty all the time. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And your new BFF will appreciate the effort.

You could also play dress up together. The Tower makes for a funny hat.

Or you could do some yoga together. I heard the Leaning Tower of Pisa rocks the standing split. And even if you can barely manage to do even the most simple yoga poses, it doesn’t make fun of you.

Maybe you’re too “cool” to admit that you want to be besties for life with the Leaning Tower of Pisa. That’s fine too. You can also just chill with it. Be sure to show little to no emotion. (But the Tower will still know you love it, even if you don’t say so.)

Shoot, maybe for some inexplicable reason, you absolutely hate the Tower. That’s weird, but okay I guess.  I honestly don’t care if you karate kick the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the face.

Please just don’t hold it up.

(Don’t worry, you guys. The Tower knows that my ninja kick was a joke, we’re still cool.)

Interesting and very amusing. I guess you guys planned it for a long time. Don’t tell me it was just in the moment.
